Meet the Smiling Staff at Spruce Mountain Dentistry

Dr. Carleton Neil was born in Farmington, his family lineage in the area going back two hundred years. Raised among the highlands of Western Maine, he grew up equal parts Ralph Waldo Emerson and Paul Bunyan; these mountains and waterways are the formative and essential parts of who he is.

Graduating summa cum laude in Biology from the University of Maine at Farmington alongside a degree in New Media from the University of Maine, Dr. Neil further earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of New England College of Dental Medicine. Through outreach, he has provided dental care to rural schools and towns in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, which affirmed his focus and commitment to the same rural communities back home in Maine.

Dr. Neil recognizes his patients as individuals, and believes customized care backed by clinical best practices and supported by the latest dental research is the best way to optimize dental outcomes and strengthen his community. He maintains an interest in the intersection of dentistry and technology and enjoys learning and applying appropriate methods to attain these goals. To this end, and akin to Dr. Kay, he is en route to Mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry via the New England Master Track Program.

The very welcoming patients Dr. Neil has met at the office remain encouraging, and he is grateful for the opportunities dentistry provides to contribute and connect to his community; keep bringing your jokes and stories to your visits. You will find Dr. Neil out and about at local events – it could be a few seats down the bleacher or down the pew. You are as likely to spot him at a demolition derby as you are at a poetry slam.

Dr. Neil finds great fulfillment in dentistry every day; when he is not practicing dentistry, he always enjoys discovering and curating music for friends and loved ones.
